Gloucestershire Gateway Partnership
Go Together is delivering an ambitious workforce transformation programme, a bold step towards reimagining how we support children, young people, and families across Gloucestershire. Through a co-created and relational approach, we aim to shift from traditional, deficit-based services toward empowering communities to lead their own transformation.
Over the past few months, we’ve been working alongside over 130 colleagues from across the Gloucestershire Gateway Trust partnership to co-create a learning programme rooted in community-led, strengths-based practice. We’re proud to share the full Appreciative Inquiry report, which captures the voices and insights of local practitioners and residents who want to shift how we work from doing to, towards doing with and by.
Pride in Place
Supporting Matson & Robinswood
Matson & Robinswood has been awarded up to £20 million over ten years through the Government's Pride in Place programme — a genuine and unusual transfer of power, with decisions placed in the hands of a resident-led Neighbourhood Board. Go Together is supporting this journey through two connected pathways.
Pathway 1 works directly with the newly formed Board, helping members move from directing to stewarding through an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) lens. Across three sessions, the Board explores what community-led decision making means in practice, examines power dynamics between residents, statutory partners and itself, and co-creates a Place Charter setting out how it will work with the community it serves.
Pathway 2 supports local organisations delivering the £6,000 engagement funds attached to the programme, helping them apply the same ABCD approach — surfacing local assets and relationships rather than defaulting to survey-and-report habits — through light-touch coordination that avoids duplication and resident fatigue.
Both pathways are designed to connect, ensuring the Board and the organisations listening on its behalf are learning the same language at the same time, so that a rare transfer of power translates into genuinely community-led change.
Enabling people to thrive - place based work in Priors Park
Our project with Bromford Flagship Livewest is a place-based learning and development programme delivered by Go Together working in Priors Park, Tewkesbury. Designed as a ‘test and learn’ initiative, it strengthens Bromford’s approach to place based work through relational, asset-based, and trauma-informed practice.
Through a series of workshops, Action Learning Sets, and participatory evaluation, colleagues and residents are co-creating Place Plans that reflect the strengths, aspirations, and ideas of local people. The project aims to embed community-led action, nurture trust, and build sustainable capacity for change.
We are evolving three key areas of learning:
Working with the community in Priors Park to grow local capacity and leadership.
Strengthening cross-organisational and community relationships that enable a community-led approach.
Deepening understanding of place-based practice internally among Bromford Flagship colleagues, so teams can work better together and serve local residents.
Together, these priorities are helping shape a model of adaptive, collaborative practice that can inform Bromford’s wider work across neighbourhoods and regions.
Active Together
Go Together is leading eight System Leaders Learning Programmes across Leicestershire, working in partnership with Active Together as part of Sport England's national Place Partnerships initiative.
Place Partnerships brings together local authorities, health services, community organisations and other stakeholders to tackle inactivity in the areas of greatest need, using Active Lives Survey data to target investment where it matters most. In Leicestershire, Go Together is turning that national ambition into local practice — convening leaders and practitioners from across each district, from council and ICB colleagues to social prescribers, schools and grassroots community groups.
Through an Appreciative Inquiry approach, co-designed district by district, we're helping local systems move from working in silos to working together: building trust, sharing power, and testing practical, safe-to-try experiments that address the specific barriers to activity in each community. With follow-up sessions at 3 and 6 months, the programme is building lasting collaborative capability across the county — ensuring Leicestershire's response to inactivity is genuinely place-led and community-rooted.
"Co-Everything": Building a Movement Across East Sussex
This summer, Go Together partnered with the Jeder Institute to deliver the "Co-Everything" workshop series across East Sussex — four days of gathering with VCSE organisations, residents and local authority colleagues who believe real, lasting change starts from within communities.
The series opened with two days in Hastings, followed by a day in Lewes District and a day in Eastbourne, each exploring the same central question: how can we all support each other to grow neighbourhoods and communities where people feel safe, valued and ready to join in?
Running through all four days was a shared thread — literally. Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, the practice of repairing broken pottery with gold, participants brought pieces of broken pottery to contribute to a collective artwork, weaving together the stories, strengths and spirit of communities across the county. The result was more than a series of standalone sessions: it was the beginning of a wider movement, connecting people ready to go further and lead change together across East Sussex.
Feeding Gloucestershire
Go Together Supporting Feeding Gloucestershire's Community Supermarkets Research
Go Together is proud to be working alongside Feeding Gloucestershire to shape the future of food support across the county, supporting community engagement research that will inform a new community supermarket model.
Feeding Gloucestershire has already laid strong foundations, drafting two carefully designed surveys — one capturing the experiences of people who use food banks and pantries, the other gathering insight from the staff and volunteers who run them — with a project working group of coordinators and volunteers shaping the research from the outset.
Go Together's role is to build on that groundwork. Across summer and autumn 2026, we're delivering community engagement training in all six Gloucestershire districts, supporting inclusive, dignified data collection across the food bank and pantry network, and leading analysis and write-up of the findings — culminating in a report for the Project Board in January 2027.
At its heart, this is about surfacing the voices often least visible in aggregate data — ensuring that as Feeding Gloucestershire designs a new model of affordable food access, it's genuinely shaped by the people and communities it exists to serve.
Somerset's Health and Wellbeing System Wide Leadership Project
Somerset's Health and Wellbeing System-Wide Leadership Project aims to strengthen relationships across communities. The project is seeking to foster distributed leadership through place-based working. Through amplifying resident voices and promoting collaboration, we are seeking to achieve systems change, that places individuals at the heart, while mobilising the power of collective agency.

Anything you can think of... Reimagining the Old Wilko Store as a Community Hub in Yeovil
Go Together is supporting Yeovil Art Space and Community Connectors to transform the former Wilko store in Yeovil town centre into a vibrant community hub for creativity, connection, and belonging. The project is part of reimagining Glovers Walk, bringing together artists, residents, and organisations to co-design how the space can serve as a catalyst for community-led regeneration.
Through facilitated workshops, community conversations, and partnership development, the work focuses on:
Activating local assets by recognising and connecting the skills, passions, and networks of Yeovil’s communities.
Building shared ownership of the space, ensuring local people shape its purpose and activities.
Exploring new models of stewardship that make the hub financially and socially sustainable.
The emerging vision is of a welcoming, multi-use space that nurtures creativity, enterprise, and wellbeing — a place where art, community, and local life meet to spark renewal in the heart of Yeovil.

Facilitation of Board Awayday
facilitated workshop for the Gloucestershire Community Foundation's Trustees and staff is to strengthen relationships and co-create a new 10-year strategy in response to evolving community needs and challenges.
Movement for Change
Movement for Change is dedicated to building authentic relationships, fostering collaborative partnerships and working collectively to create proactive change for Gloucester. The project was initiated by Gloucester City Council, Gloucester Community Building Collective and Gloucester Culture Trust. It now includes organisations from the charity, cultural and housing sectors with support from Councils and the Constabulary.

Together Gloucester: Participatory Decision Making
Together Gloucester seeks to change the way that Gloucester’s residents and communities engage with the city’s cultural offer. By setting up a citizen panel the people of Gloucester will be at the heart of cultural decision-making, so that the cultural offer reflects those who live here.
Local residents will come together and make decisions about which local projects to fund and support. Go Together are facilitating the 'Citizens Panel' through introducing tools for community decision making.

GL11 Community Hub is renowned for its remarkable adaptability and commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the community. From mobilising Street Volunteers during the Covid-19 lockdown and coordinating vaccination programme volunteers to responding swiftly to food insecurity during the "Half-term Hunger" crisis, GL11 exemplifies resilience and responsiveness.
With upcoming changes in leadership, GL11 recognises the importance of a robust communications strategy to clearly articulate its value proposition.
